Effective October 1, 2005 Locals 1105 and 1001 will unite to form a new union with a new number - UFCW Local 21 - that will become the largest union local in the state.  The new Local 21 will represent 30,000 workers in retail, health care and other service industries.

Members of Local 1105 and Local 1001 voted to form the new Local 21 in order to build a stronger union that's better equipped to face the many challenges of today economy.  With the combined resources of both unions, we will have more power at the bargaining table, more resources to organize non-union employees and a greater voice for working families in the State Legislature and Congress.
